establishment

Alertis was founded in 1990 under its original name, Ardovlam, and from the very beginning focused on the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems.

For quite some time, the company’s added value lay in a strong product in fire detection; however, the scope of its activities gradually expanded to include intrusion detection, access control, video surveillance, and integrated security.

1990

Experience & Trust

A constant feature of the strategy has been a focus on up-to-date technical expertise, high-quality service, and long-term partnerships with customers and suppliers. Over the course of 30 years, a loyal network of partner electrical installers has been built up, and nearly 20,000 customers have entrusted their security to Alertis.

Operational excellence

Thanks to its strong organizational structure, Alertis has consistently been a pioneer in obtaining all relevant quality certifications (ISO, VCA, BOSEC, INCERT) and digitizing processes; the company’s focus shifted to operational excellence. Through strategic acquisitions that were fully integrated, its reach expanded to cover all of Belgium.

Guy Slagmulder becomes CEO

In 2003, Guy Slagmulder took the helm at Ardovlam. Drawing on his knowledge and experience, he continued to drive growth and innovation. Under his leadership, the company was nominated multiple times as a Trend Gazelle in the years that followed.

2003

Acquisition of Studio Lenaerts

With the acquisition of Studio Lenaerts, Ardovlam now also has a base of operations in Limburg. Studio Lenaerts’ client portfolio includes numerous historic heritage sites. As a result, Ardovlam will be installing a significant number of systems in churches and cathedrals in the coming years. Securing historic heritage sites will therefore become a core focus for Ardovlam.

2008

Acquisition of Cools Security

With the acquisition of Cools Security, Ardovlam’s customer base will expand to include primarily residential burglar alarm systems.

2011

New office in Beveren

Ardovlam is moving to its new building at 13 Kruisboommolenstraat. The offices in Ardooie had become too small, and with an eye toward the future, the company decided to build a brand-new office. The building was completed in 2011, and the staff was able to move into the new site.

2011

Acquisition of AABS

Innovation and growth: these are two pillars on which Ardovlam is strongly committed. With that in mind, the company is acquiring AABS in Antwerp. As a result, Ardovlam now has branches in three different provinces.

2014

launch of Safespace

Recent innovative products make it possible to strengthen our relationship with our customers even further through remote servicing. In 2019, Alertis launched Safespace, an online platform that integrates and analyzes all your security data and enables online monitoring.

2019

steady growth

Thanks to its focus on service, solid technical expertise, and strong relationships built on trust with its customers, the company is able to achieve steady growth.

2010-2020

trends gazelle

Between 2010 and 2020, Alertis was nominated 10 times for the Trends Gazellen West Flanders awards. The continuous growth of our people and our services is an integral part of our strategy.

growth across the board

Alertis operates throughout Belgium and has offices in Roeselare (HQ), Ghent, Lummen, and Wilrijk. In 2020, the company had 92 employees. Annual revenue amounts to €15 million. Alertis has partnership agreements with the following manufacturers and importers: Limotec, Honeywell Morley, Bosch Security Systems, Nedap Security, Prysm, Satel, and Avigilon.

name change to Alertis

We may be a market leader in fire safety, but above all, we are an innovative company that offers comprehensive solutions for building security.

2020

forward-looking

The 30-year-old name had long since ceased to reflect who we are, as we now cover all areas of security and have grown into a professional player with four locations (Roeselare, Ghent, Antwerp, and Lummen). That is why, as we embark on a new decade with a new business plan and an energetic team, we chose a broad and fresh name that is ready for the future.

seriously safe

“Seriously Safe” is our new tagline, and it immediately reflects the identity of Alertis and our own. We are a dedicated team of professionals who take people’s security and safety seriously, because safety is a fundamental right, and we want to do our part to ensure it. Our vision is to give our clients a genuine sense of security.

Expansion of the office building in Roeselare

Renovation work on the office building in Roeselare began in November 2020.

2020-2021

expansion

The existing building was expanded to include a second floor, which houses several meeting rooms as well as a modern kitchen with a dining area and an outdoor terrace.

renovation

An elevator was installed in the entrance hall, and several rooms on the ground floor were repurposed. In addition, the demo room was completely renovated.

Acquisition of Gas Applications & Services

In early 2021, Alertis NV acquired the business assets of industry peer Gas Applications & Services, based in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe, which had been operating for more than 20 years as a specialist in gas detection and had over 1,000 active installations throughout the country.

2021

Acquisition of P&M Technology

In 2022, we continued to focus on expanding our knowledge and expertise, as evidenced by the acquisition of industry peer P&M Technology in Herk-de-Stad.

2022

CCTV and access control

As a result of this acquisition, Alertis is further expanding its knowledge and expertise in the field of CCTV and access control integration, particularly in the logistics sector. The focus was primarily on applications for video surveillance (Avigilon) and access control (Nedap), both brands that Alertis also actively utilizes.

Expansion of the Limburg team

At the same time, we are expanding our team of 15 employees in the province of Limburg; here, too, we are becoming a leading player. Our employees and customers will be part of a growth story that places them in a professional yet family-like environment.

Speaking

Dear Customers,

It is a great honor for us to advise and assist you with your security needs. After all, you come to us with questions regarding your personal physical safety, that of your employees, or that of your family—or perhaps you simply want to be 100% certain that you won’t lose something precious to you. At Alertis, we have enjoyed your trust for 30 years; this amounts to more than 19,000 installations.

That is why we are committed to doing everything in our power to live up to this trust: by developing a robust concept through our team of project managers, by recommending best-in-class products completely independent of manufacturers, by continuously training our 65 service technicians, by providing 24/7 technical support, and by meticulously documenting your installation to ensure efficient after-sales service.

Safety is not a commodity, a common good; no, it is a custom solution and requires the full attention and expertise of your supplier. Safety is a fundamental emotional need, and we are happy to make it our sole core business.

Would you like one of my colleagues or myself to meet with you as a client soon?

Sincerely,
Guy Slagmulder

Certificates

BOSEC

ALERTIS NV is certified as a specialized installer of fire detection systems in accordance with the regulations of Assuralia and the CEA (European Committee of Insurers) under number B-9066-FD

BOSEC’s objective is the certification (and subsequent monitoring) of all methods, systems, products, and personnel related to protection against fire and intrusion. BOSEC’s members include representatives from companies, users, insurers, standardization bodies, research and testing institutions, and laboratories.

INCERT Intrusion

Incert is the quality label for the Belgian alarm sector (including security industry federations, the professional association of insurance companies (Assuralia), users, security engineering firms, the FPS Interior, and insurance brokers).

The security company’s Incert certification is based on verification of its accreditation by the FPS Interior, an administrative assessment, and a technical assessment of completed installations. Alertis is Incert certified under number B-1560.

INCERT Video

The Incert Video Certificate guarantees the high-quality installation of your video surveillance system by your specialized installer, in this case Alertis. The label ensures the origin of the products, professional installation, thorough training and advice for customers, and professional after-sales service. As an INCERT installer, we are audited annually by an independent body to verify these standards. Alertis is Incert certified under number VB-0009.

ISO 9001:2025

The international standard ISO 9001 specifies the requirements for a quality management system. This standard sets out requirements that enable an organization to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products that meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements, and to ensure customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including continuous improvement.

Alertis is certified according to the ISO 9001 standard for its entire range of activities, including the study, design, manufacture, installation, maintenance, and repair of security systems for fire and gas detection, intrusion detection, video surveillance, and access control.

VCA**

Every client commissioning work must ensure that the contractor takes the necessary preventive measures when carrying out the work. One option available to the client is to engage contractors who hold a label, certificate, or other form of accreditation demonstrating that they have implemented a safety management system. Various safety management systems have been developed that allow contractors to demonstrate that they are taking the necessary preventive measures to minimize risks to their own employees and those of the client. VCA (Safety, Health, and Environment Checklist for Contractors) is a certification process in which a certification body, based on an audit of the company and its work sites, verifies whether the applicant meets the assessment criteria for VCA certification. While VCA* is primarily intended for subcontractors, VCA** is intended for general contractors. Alertis holds the VCA** certificate.

Licensed security company

The Act of April 10, 1990, and the Royal Decrees of June 13, 2002, and April 7, 2003, set forth the conditions for obtaining accreditation as a security company. These include, among other things, training requirements for staff, technical equipment for the secure management of client files, 24/7 availability, and a requirement to respond within 8 hours.
